Recording
and designing sound began early in Derek's childhood. His
toys were a few tape recorders, one microphone and world
of noise. Famous for
recording hours of dialogue and masterfully editing tapes
together to create hilarious gibberish. Eventually picking
up various instruments, Derek honed his musical ear. Having
played the harmonica, recorder, ukulele, bass and organ
all before the 1990's created an appreciation for non-computer
aided music. Performing and recording music throughout the
past decade eventually led Derek to designing sound for
theatre and film. Recently he designed sound for "Cry
Fire" by Stephanie Timm and Dan Savage's adaptation
of "Letters From the Earth" by Mark Twain. Derek
is thrilled to be part of this exciting project.
